Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! – 2 Corinthians 5:17
When you study the gospels, you read that almost everything Jesus said and did was contrary to the religious system of that time. Jesus and the spiritual leaders (the Pharisees and teachers of the law) were opposite to each other.
A religious attitude
Not much has changed today. There are many theologians and Bible teachers who do not believe that God heals and performs miracles. They do not believe in being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. Many do not believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ and His resurrection from the dead.
A negative behavior and mindset dominate many places. It is as in the time of Jesus when the theologians used to have a negative attitude and impose heavy burdens on others. Many people today are also discouraged and condemned. In some churches they prefer you to wear dark colors and you are not allowed to drive a car on Sundays.
Salvation from religion
These religious people are not happy at all and in the meantime the young people are suffering because of this. This is the opposite of the happy gospel of Jesus Christ; because He came to free man and make him happy. The Savior from judgment, sin, curse, sickness, poverty, condemnation, humiliation, death, hell, the evil one and his demons is also the Savior from religion.
In Jesus’ days, the religious people always pointed to the laws of Moses. They said: ‘We don’t want Jesus, we want Moses.’ They had their own religious system and placed it above people. Instead of being glad that the man with the shriveled hand was healed, they said: ‘You are not allowed to heal on the Sabbath.’ Religious men wanted to stone the woman caught in adultery because she had broken the law. Jesus felt sorry for her and forgave her.
Like Jesus, let us do good through the new life He wants to give to everybody.
