The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die. – John 11:25
To experience the forgiveness of your sins, you must first experience Good Friday. Without Good Friday there is no Easter. Without death, there is no resurrection.
Many people do not want to go to Calvary on Good Friday, because the nails and the hammer are ready to crucify our old lives. That is painful. However, you cannot go straight to Easter; you must first go to Calvary. Your old self must die before the new life is there.
The Easter sun in your heart
Good Friday is awful, dark and lonely. But after Good Friday comes Easter morning and the sun rises. Your heart was cold and dead, and you did everything you wanted. But now you feel the warmth of God’s love coming into your heart. The stone which lay on your heart, is rolled away. The ‘Easter sun’ will shine in your heart and others will see this. You feel reborn. The new life with Jesus Christ has just started. There is a song: ‘Now death is no longer frightening, because everything, everything is fulfilled. Whoever looks to Jesus in faith, does not fear death and hell.’ Death no longer exists for those who are in Jesus Christ.
Died with Jesus
If you die spiritually before your body dies, you will live. Jesus says: ‘The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die’ (John 11:25). You are already dead to sin. You have already experienced Good Friday, your death day. Paul says in Galatians 2:20: ‘I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.’ The day my old self died, and I surrendered myself to Jesus was my Good Friday. Because I died then, I will not die again. Jesus lives and I live with Him!
