Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:7
I believe it is important for a Christian to know what the content of a prayer could and should be.
There are people who wonder if they have not been too impertinent or demanding in their prayer. Others just pray aimlessly. A child of God can boldly ask for anything. There should not be limitations for someone who prays. Philippians 4:6 says: ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.’ In 1 Peter 5:7 we read: ‘Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.’
Talk to God
You can talk to God about your concerns. About the condition of your heart, body and mind. About your shortcomings which depress you. About the nice things, but also about pain and sadness. You may speak to Him about your family, relatives and friends. You can pray to God for your nation or for expansion of His Kingdom on earth.
God is interested in every area of our lives and He wants to lead us. There is not anything too big or too small for Him. God is the Creator of the infinite universe, but also of the smallest creatures.
The Father’s heart is big enough for all our questions. However, spiritual matters should always take precedence over material matters. We do not always get everything we ask for, because God may have a different plan. This is sometimes difficult for us to accept. However, God’s plan is always higher and better than our plans. My motto is: ‘Whatever God does is good’! His will shall be done in me. Our prayer life is for God to be honored and for His purpose to be fulfilled in our lives. If you keep that in mind, you can ask God for everything. God’s Spirit will help you to pray so you know what to ask and not to ask.
