In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. – Romans 8:26-27

Sometimes it happens that a child of God becomes so discouraged that he wants to give up praying. ‘Praying doesn’t help. God doesn’t hear me. How can I move on?’

Above Bible scripture is very important for such people. The Holy Spirit does two main things when we pray.

1) The Holy Spirit teaches us to pray

The Spirit of God puts the right prayer in our hearts. Praying is then a work of the Holy Spirit and not ours. God Himself, through His Spirit, puts true prayer in our hearts and we then place this prayer before the mercy seat of God. A prayer, placed by God in our hearts, will always be answered.

2) The Holy Spirit does not only teach us to pray, but also helps us with this

God’s Spirit is an Intercessor. The Holy Spirit prays in us and for us. In addition to the blood of His Son Jesus Christ that cleanses us from all sins, God has also given us the Holy Spirit as the Comforter. The Holy Spirit does not only comfort us, but He also leads, strengthens, teaches and speaks.

The Holy Spirit does not replace our prayer but supports it. We must allow Him to pray through us. God does not exempt us from the task of praying but wishes to help us through His Spirit. You have to seek first, then you will find. You should first knock, and the door will be opened. You must first pray, and you will receive.
