Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the people, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. – Isaiah 60:1-3

When I read this Bible scripture, I think of the Lord Jesus Christ who came to be a light in the darkness. There is light and there is darkness on earth. The evil one is called the prince of the darkness. He has corrupted our planet with his evil work.

But, praise God, there is also light. Jesus Christ is the one who brought light in the darkness and wherever the Light comes, the darkness will give way.

The light of the world

Jesus says in John 8:12: ‘I am the light of the world.’ If you are a Christian, it means that the light is in you and darkness has disappeared from your heart. Jesus says to you: ‘You are the light of the world’ (Matthew 5:14).

From the darkness into the light

You cannot keep this Light (Jesus) to yourself, because that would be selfish. You came into the light because someone once passed the Light to you. The intention is for you to give this Light to others too so they can come from the darkness into the light.

Jesus came for everybody

People had to wait long for this Light but finally the angel said: ‘I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord’ (Luke 2:10-11). Jesus came to earth for everybody; He is the Light of the world.

Have you already received this Light? Go to Him and trust Him. Ask Him to be your Redeemer and Savior. If you do that, the Light will also shine in your heart.
