Eleazar stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day. The troops returned to Eleazar, but only to strip the dead. – 2 Samuel 23:10
Eleazar was a very special hero of David. He shows us how great the power of an individual can be.
The Bible says that the Philistines were gathered to fight against the people of Israel. For some reason the entire army of Israel had fled, except for one man: Eleazar. He stood up and went alone against the Philistines. Eleazar did not flee and did not run away, while the majority did. It is very human to always follow others, but not Eleazar. He took his responsibility. He thought about it and acted on it. We have to learn to think for ourselves and act accordingly.
It starts with the baptism. Every believer must make his own choice. If you make a personal choice for Jesus Christ, you are responsible for your actions on the path of the Lord. Man is accountable for his actions when he comes to stand before God.
Eleazar felt this and at that time he was the man for the job. That was why he took the sword and killed the Philistines. He must have thought: if God is for me, who will be against me?
Do not give up in battle
Eleazar stood alone and fought until his hand grew tired and he could not let go of the sword. He took his responsibility and finished the job. He held his sword until he was done with the job.
You must also not give up in battle. You have made a choice for Jesus. Do not stop now but continue to serve Him.
