He said to them: Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. – Mark 16:15

We can be an advocate for world evangelism. We can give money for missionary work. However, it is even more important to understand and realize that missionary work is the primary goal of the Church of Jesus Christ. The Church does not only exist so that we are built up in faith, encouraged and strengthened. The Church is not there to only meet other believers.

The Church exists primarily to be a shining light of God in this world. The Church is there to bring the gospel to this world. Each of us has been called by Jesus Christ to be witnesses of God’s great love, starting in our own environment: family, street, village or town. Jesus says in Matthew 13:38: ‘The field is the world.’

I have never seen a farmer who only works on one part of his field. Similarly, God wants us to see the entire world as a field to work on. Unfortunately, many people are only interested in their own inner circle, street or place of residence. However, we should not stop there. Our vision must be a global vision.

‘For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life’ (John 3:16).

God’s eyes are on the world and He desires for us to also see the need of the entire world. That is why, after all these years, the goal of the Johan Maasbach World Mission Foundation is still the same: ‘to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the greatest number of people in the shortest possible time, using all means and media that are at our disposal.’

Dear friend, the only power that enables us to fulfill this wonderful commission is the power of the Holy Spirit. He fills us with the great love of Christ. It is the redeeming love of God that urges us to win souls for Jesus. Does God’s love also burn in your heart?
