But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. – Acts 1:8

When we read in the Bible about men of God who did great and wonderful deeds in the name of Jesus, we often wonder: how did these things happen? The answer is: only through the power of the Holy Spirit. This is the secret.

When the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit is in us, we are able to do more than we would do with our own abilities. If this supernatural power was ever needed, it is in our generation.

What Jephthah did when he defeated the Ammonites was supernatural, for the Bible says: ‘Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Jephthah’ (Judges 11:29). What Gideon and his men did was supernatural (Judges 7). Samson had supernatural power (see Judges 13-16). David did a supernatural thing when he defeated Goliath (see 1 Samuel 17). Shamgar had supernatural power (see Judges 3:31). The Church of Jesus Christ in our generation needs this supernatural power to resist the enemy.

These people already had the supernatural power in the Old Testament. How much more are we to receive this supernatural power in this time of grace. We also need that power to be able to testify about Jesus. Today many Bible teachers deny the miracles of the Bible because they do not believe in the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.

O, let us pray to receive the power of the Holy Spirit. Let our prayer be that men and women, boys and girls, will arise who believe in this supernatural power for healing, for deliverance, etc. And that through His power, sinners will be convinced that Jesus lives and that He is still the same, yesterday, today and forever. Amen!
