For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. – Colossians 2:9
Through the ages, man has tried to unravel the wonderful secret of the Trinity: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Bible reveals several things about the Trinity. I will try to show the three Persons, each with His own personality and value.
Isaac and Rebekah
I think the story of the arrangement of the marriage between Isaac and Rebekah (Genesis 24) gives us a beautiful image of the Trinity. Abraham as the image of God the Father. Isaac as the image of God the Son, Jesus Christ. Eliezer as the image of God the Holy Spirit.
Abraham told his best servant, Eliezer, to find a bride for his son. Eliezer left home and led by the Lord, he ended up with Abraham’s family. There he met Rebekah and Eliezer led her to Isaac to become his bride.
The mission of the Holy Spirit (our Eliezer) is to convince us of sin, to sanctify us and to lead us to God’s throne. It is God’s will to give us away as the Bride of Christ to His only Son. God wants us to see Jesus as our Bridegroom and this is also the intention of the Holy Spirit.
John 16:14 says: ‘He (the Holy Spirit) will glorify Me (Jesus) because it is from Me that He will receive what He will make known to you.’ Colossians 2:9 says: ‘For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.’
This means that the three Persons of the Trinity work in Christ. However, every Person also has their special task.
God the Father, who loves mankind with an infinite love came up with the rescue plan. God the Son is the Savior and Redeemer of the lost man. God the Holy Spirit is the One who will show us the way to full truth.
