There will be terrible times in the last days. – 2 Timothy 3:1
Paul teaches us that tough times will come in the last days. In Revelation 12:12 we read that the evil one has come down and is filled with anger. He knows he does not have much time left.
The evil one knows that he has less and less time. He is aware that God will deal with him completely and throw him into the bottomless pit, into the lake of burning sulfur. The evil one knows that Jesus conquered him at Calvary and that his destiny was decided back then.
Before it comes to this, the evil one has been trying to destroy and mislead as many as possible. In Matthew 24 and Mark 13 we read a lot about the signs of the end times.
I want to quote a few facts: ‘You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen’ (Matthew 24:6). These are the birth pains preceding the coming of Jesus. The faster the events occur one after the other, the closer we are to the coming of Jesus.
‘You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of Me’ (Matthew 24:6-9).
Christians who worship God in spirit and truth, who profess Jesus Christ as Lord, will be increasingly hated. In many countries today, Christians are being persecuted, imprisoned, tortured and killed. These are all signs of the end time.
Jesus told us these things so we will not worry but endure till the end and be ready for His coming. Sooner or later it will happen. Will you be there?
You do not have to be afraid if you have accepted Jesus in your life and your name is in the Book of life.
