No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13
When we read the book of Job, we discover the many things going on in the spiritual world which we cannot see with our eyes. We realize that suffering and pain affect everybody. Distress, sorrow and pain can shake our lives back and forth. But Job’s story brings us good news! We see that if we continue to trust Him and keep our hearts pure, God will bless us richly through all misery. God never forgets us. Isaiah 44:21 says: ‘I will not forget you.’
A wall of protection
I experienced a great blessing while reading how proud God was of Job and how He praised him before the evil one. Then satan accused Job before God. God said that Job was perfect in his walk. Job did not say this about himself, the people did not say that, and the evil one certainly did not. God said so! God determined that Job was completely sincere and feared Him. Job therefore did not suffer for the wrong things he did, but for the good! Satan said to God: ‘Of course he fears You. Have You not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands. Now stretch out Your hand and strike everything he has and see what happens then!’
It is wonderful that God has placed a wall of protection around us. Some of you are discouraged. You are always afraid something will happen to you. However, I want you to realize that you are a child of God. You also have a shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one (see Ephesians 6:16)! You who are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit do not worry when you face severe temptation or trial. God was proud of Job. Can He be proud of us too?
