The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him: ‘We have found the Messiah’ (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus. – John 1:41-42
As Christians it is our task to obey the Great Commission, to bring other people to Jesus. The most important event in a person’s life is when this person meets and accepts Jesus as his Savior and Redeemer. If you want to be a soul-winner, you should introduce people to Jesus. At a party you would say: ‘John, this is Peter. And Peter, this is John.’
This is the same for soul winning. For example: ‘Ibrahim, I want you to get to know Jesus Christ, because He has done important things for you. If He were here in person, you could shake His hand. Jesus is here though, because He lives in my heart.’ As you introduce Jesus, He is there, because He is with you. It is very important for you to believe this. If you introduce Jesus like this, there will always be a response from the other person. A decision is immediately made as this person either says that he wants to get to know Jesus or he does not.
A successful soul-winner
A soul-winner is, respectfully said, a representative who promotes his product. The successful soul-winner will always want to lead the other person to the decision to say: ‘Lord Jesus, I need You, come in my heart.’
The Bible says: ‘He who is wise, captures and wins souls for God’ (Proverbs 11:30). Be friendly and polite. When you talk to someone, do not hesitate to quote the Bible. Most people do not mind if you read some important verses which you might have highlighted in your Bible beforehand. Romans 3:23, 6:23 and Revelation 3:20 are good Bible verses to use. Be a soul-winner for God. The Holy Spirit will help you when you take the first step.
